Organizer

Organizers will be responsible for coaching and managing a team of volunteers, interns and local stakeholders primarily in their focus county. They will also be responsible for implementing and executing NRP’s field program primarily in their focus county. Organizers should be positive, solutions-oriented, self-starters willing to take on demanding work and capable of motivating diverse rural communities. Organizers report to a Regional Organizer.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Executing the field strategy within your geographical region or specific county
● Recruiting and training volunteers for canvassing and other methods of organizing
● Building and sustaining key relationships with community activists, political leaders, and partner
organizations within your geographical region or specific county
● Managing, as well as participating in, canvassing, text banking, and phone banking activities
● Assisting with planning community events and implementing NRP programs and campaigns
● Providing frequent written updates to supervisor

Experience and Qualifications:

● At least 1 electoral cycle managing grassroots/issue based campaigns, Voter Registration and/or Get Out
The Vote programs, and/or experience working in organizing, issue advocacy, and/or political campaigns.
● Current experience in at least one of the specified counties is preferred
● Must have received full COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire; Proof of vaccination required
● Experience coordinating projects with multiple partners/stakeholders, and experience working directly
with community members from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and
various social media platforms
● A valid driver’s license and one’s own reliable transportation
● Ability to work non-business hours and weekends

Skills and Attributes

● Experience using Votebuilder (VAN) preferred
● Experience with various texting platforms and other campaign software a plus
● Superior written, communication and public speaking skills
● Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
● Great organizational skills with a consistent commitment to follow through
● Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
● Ability to work in a fast paced, metrics-driven work environment with strong time management skills
● Passion for working and living in rural communities and a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
