Helen Probst Mills

Helen Probst Mills recently co-founded the non-profit New Rural Project, which focuses on making sure that the voices of rural young people and marginalized residents are heard, and that they are seen.  Helen was proud to be the 2018 and the 2020 Democratic Nominee for North Carolina’s 25th State Senate District.  She is a very active member of her local Democratic Party and Democratic Women.

 

Helen was recently reappointed to a second term on the Board of Trustees of the Sandhills Community College ("SCC") and is the Development Co-Chair of the Foundation Board of SCC.  She is an active community member serving on the Board of Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills and is a member of the Moore Women - A Giving Circle and the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills.  Helen has served for many years on the Outreach Committee of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and for almost six years on the Board of the Northern Moore Family Resource Center, helping to establish the HOPE Academy Pre-school.  Additionally, Helen has served on the Auxiliary Board of the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for three years and has been very active in her children's schools.

 

Helen graduated from The College of the University of Chicago and received her JD from Case Western Reserve School of Law.  A dedicated alum, Helen co-founded the North Carolina Alumni Club of the University of Chicago and served for six years on the University-wide Alumni Board of Governors.  Helen's legal career took her from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago.  Moving with her husband Stuart Mills to London, Helen worked in-house at the Legal Department NatWest Markets and then as a Legal Adviser in the global headquarters of HSBC Holdings PLC.  Helen Probst Mills and her husband of almost thirty years have lived in Pinehurst since 2006.
