This year, New Rural Project is partnering with Open Answer, a nonprofit canvassing organization, to support their work. Canvassers will be employees of Open Answer, but under the day-to-day management of New Rural Project.

New Rural Project (NRP) seeks multiple part-time, temporary Paid Canvassers to join our team for the 2024 Election Cycle. Canvassers will help increase the participation of Black, LatinX, and Native American infrequent voters in the 2024 General election. Canvassers will undergo initial training and receive ongoing coaching and support to ensure they can effectively use the script and persuade voters through meaningful conversations about our values and what is at stake in this election. The ideal candidate is a people person motivated to build community by discussing civic engagement and voting with community members in rural North Carolina. They have excellent listening skills, are team players and independent workers, and are aligned with New Rural Project’s mission.

Canvassers will work approximately 16- 20 hours a week, depending on deliverables and voter contacts needed to hit goals. Compensation is $22 an hour + daily mileage as determined under NRP Policies. Canvassers will work within Anson, Hoke, Scotland, and Union Counties through mid-November 2024 after the general election, which is November 5.
